If it weren’t for me hitting the call button and reminding them she needed to be changed she would have sat soiled for days I am sure. I think it’s important to add that not a single person (except one exceptional nurse we got) came to check on her or assist me in changing her. When I asked the nurse if this was allowed after speaking with the hospital about the one person covid policy she looked ultimately stunned and confused. They then told me my parents would have to also come up to assist me. When I told her we would not be spending another night in the midst of a pandemic with a 97 year old they essentially told me I was on my own to get her dressed and out of there. She said that the case manager had not cleared her yet and we would be spending another night. At 6 PM I asked the nurse if they had any idea on when transportation would arrive for us to get my grandmother home. When I asked what we were waiting on for discharge she said “well she can go home today.” We were subsequently discharged at 12. She ended up just printing me my grandmothers report and telling me she would be discharged the next day. She had no clue about the details of her own patient and couldn’t answer any of my questions. When the doctor arrived all she had was excuses and a bad attitude.
